#68 Three Things That Undermine the Happiness in Your Marriage
When my husband and I went to Ireland a few years ago, we visited King John’s Castle in Limerick, and it was there that I first learned where the term undermining came from.
It stems from a form of medieval warfare. When the enemy couldn’t breach the castle walls, they searched for other ways of attacking. One of the most successful ways was the literal practice of digging tunnels under walls or fortifications, to weaken their foundations and cause them to collapse.
I thought it was so fascinating, this huge, beautiful castle had been undermined!.. by human “termites” that compromised the stability of the structure.
